When Miles entered foster care, he had already faced more hardship than most people experience in a lifetime. For three years, he had survived homelessness by living in abandoned houses and couch surfing. He had dropped out of school in the 8th grade and was battling substance addiction. His initial goals were daunting: getting sober and earning his GED.
Over the past year, Miles’ journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. With the support of his foster care team and his Behavioral Health clinician, he began to take small but determined steps toward change. Through the ups and downs, the bond between Miles and his support team grew stronger.
Today, Miles’ future looks bright. He achieved his goal of earning his GED, found steady employment, and even bought himself a car. He dreams of one day giving back—either by becoming a foster parent to help children like himself or pursuing a career as a clinician to guide kids toward success.
Miles' story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when determination meets support. His courage, growth, and hope for the future continue to inspire everyone who has had the privilege of walking alongside him.
