TOGETHER, WE TRIUMPH OVER TRAUMA

No one likes to imagine a child in crisis. Neglect. Abuse. Exploitation. The stories are heartbreaking, and the impact on children, families and our community is devastating.

In 2020, 64,613 children were confirmed by Child Protective Services (CPS) as victims of maltreatment in Texas. That’s nine in every 1,000 kids. To add to that, Texas ranks poorly in child well-being categories across the board.

Texas
  • 45th in overall child well-being
  • 36th in economic well-being
  • 33rd in education
  • 48th in health
  • 47th in family and community

At CK Family Services, we serve because we are called to serve; it is in this service that we remember the message from Luke 12:48, which says, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”

HOW WE HELP

We understand a child’s health and wellness is heavily influenced by the family environment they live in. That’s why in 2022, we served over 600 children through our Foster Care program, getting them into healthy family environments. We also provided evidence-based care to tackle trauma for 1,637 children through our Behavioral Health Services. Foster parenting and behavioral health are two of the key ways we foster the best possible environments for children and families to succeed.

We also helped finalize 108 adoptions, and 139 new homes were verified and/or approved as foster or adoptive homes.

While progress has been steady and the impact has been powerful, we’re not satisfied. Our goals for the coming years are bolder than ever – because the need is greater than ever. By 2027, we plan to have served more than 10,000 children through our Behavioral Health Services and more than 15,000 through our foster parenting services.
