Covid really laid a lick on our world and we quickly woke up to a new normal. In the wake of the pandemic, relationships have changed, churches have altered, families have morphed and businesses have adjusted. While wearing masks, we at CK came up with a corporate motto, “Stronger After” and indeed we are stronger. With an immense amount of effort, flexibility and ingenuity, we managed to not just stay afloat but to thrive.
We still get Covid shots and many of us still get the virus but things have drastically changed and we view number 19 much as we view the flu. So, that means that our old motto needs to go to the file of “was meaningful but has served it’s time.” Now, as we look at what we have left after the restructuring of our culture, this passage from the Bible is really applicable.
The old beaten up apostle Paul was communicating that there are a lot of things in our lives that pass on. Spiritual gifts may come and go. Childhood eventually ends. At some point, true wisdom comes to us and partial truth leaves. When those things happen, three things will always be here: faith, hope, and love.
“Three things will last forever – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
So how do these topics affect us here at CK?
FAITH: We choose to believe in our future! We have faith in the resilience of the human spirit and we believe every child and family can gain hope. We believe that darkness cannot win and that we can find pathways to better futures. We have faith in our mission and in the importance of the work we do. Our faith drives us to persevere through every storm, knowing we are creating a rainbow in the end.
HOPE: Hope informs us that even in intense adversity we can achieve a positive outcome. The hope we serve allows children to dream of a healthy, productive future in which they produce a stable and loving home. Hope announces to families that they indeed can find happiness and contentment in a functional atmosphere. For we at CK, hope is the light at the end of the tunnel that we push toward. It is knowing that it may be dark temporarily but the light will get brighter and brighter. Hope inspires us to innovate and adapt because we know there are better paths through the tunnel. Our vision is fueled by hope.
LOVE: Love is our cornerstone and maintains our values. It is our driving force and the reason for our existence. Love brings us compassion and empathy and causes us to offer each and every person in our space the best version of ourselves. Love pushes us above and beyond expectations, always remembering the lives that are discovering beauty through us.
