new CFO, Matthew Mason

We’re excited to welcome Matthew Mason as the new Chief Financial Officer at CK Family Services! With a strong background in the for-profit world and an equally powerful personal journey in foster care and adoption, Matthew brings a unique blend of professional expertise and personal passion to his role.

Raised in Fort Worth and a proud University of North Texas graduate, Matthew began his career in public accounting and then in the private sector, where he worked primarily in the oil and gas industry. He has since dedicated his skills to causes that align deeply with his values, including co-founding a nonprofit with his wife, Ashley, called Encourage One Another (E1A.org), created to serve and support foster and adoptive families.

As an adoptive father of six and biological father of four, Matthew and Ashley parent children ranging in age from 2 to 29. They have walked the road of foster care and adoption firsthand. Their story began in 2009 when, as Matthew describes, “God got a hold of me and redirected my life. My idea of what I thought was important completely changed.” What followed a series of profound yeses that reshaped their family forever.

Their first adoption was of a 13-year-old girl originally from Ethiopia.  Though they had declared to never adopt a child older than their biological children, the Lord led them in a different way. “We threw our human reasons out the window,” Matthew shares. Soon after, they adopted the girl's younger brother from an orphanage.

Over time, they opened their hearts to two more girls and later ventured into traditional foster care in 2019 with a clear commitment to reunification whenever possible. They have lived through the grief and challenges of watching a child they’d cared for since birth return to a relative after seven months—a bittersweet experience they knew was the right decision.

Later came what Matthew calls their “five-year-old miracle,” a child who had been severely shaken as an infant and was expected to face lifelong disabilities. Today, he is a healthy, thriving little boy who continues to defy the odds. And finally, their most recent addition to the family came through a personal connection in ministry—a little boy now two years old, who, like each of their children, was met with a heartfelt yes.

Speaking from his many years of experience, Matthew encourages men especially to take time to evaluate and pray with their spouse to ensure both parents are on the same page. “For me, it took a lot of prayer,” he says. “But God made it clear. These kids bring their hard into your family, and it will be hard for you—but it is absolutely worth it.” He goes on to say, “There’s joy and there’s hard. Those aren’t mutually exclusive.”

It was through Encourage One Another that Matthew first met Daniel Lund, and ultimately was led to join the team. “CK’s mission is deeply important to me,” he shares. “It’s truly a God thing to get to merge what I do in finance with something so close to my heart.” Now immersed in the  accounting and operational systems, Matthew is excited to eventually get to know all aspects of the organization and the families we serve. “I’m excited to use what God has given me for a greater purpose. I’m happy to be a part of this.”

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Matthew Mason. We’re grateful for his leadership, experience, and the heart he brings to CK Family Services.
